Project

Jonathan Sparks

Overview

When my good friend (and personal attorney) Jonathan Sparks decided to revive his music career, I was honored to help bring his creative vision to life. Jonathan isn’t just a sharp legal mind; he’s also a talented guitarist and songwriter who originally set out to be a professional musician before pivoting to a very successful career in law. Now, he was ready to reconnect with his first passion, and he wanted a brand that could capture the spirit of both his past and present.

As a fellow guitarist, I felt a real personal connection to this project. Additionally, it was a wonderful opportunity to return to my roots doing design work for the music industry. We started with his logo design, aiming for something that felt authentic, a little rebellious, and timeless—just like his music. From there, I designed the artwork for several of his music releases, including a full 12-inch LP, ensuring every visual reinforced his identity as an artist with substance and edge. We did a photoshoot with renowned Atlanta-based Photographer Tom Fahey, and I enlisted the help of digital designer and programmer Jason Abbott to build out the website.

Jonathan also launched a podcast, Success, Decisions & Rock n’ Roll, where he explores the crossroads of music, business, and personal growth. I developed the logo and visual identity for that as well, keeping it in line with his overall aesthetic while giving it a distinct presence.

The entire process was incredibly collaborative and deeply rewarding. It’s not every day you get to help a friend rebrand themselves from lawyer to rock-and-roll artist, and do it in a way that feels true to who they are. What began as a creative favor turned into a full-fledged partnership, and I’m proud of what we built together.
